I am not going to lie to you. I really dislike vegetables. Growing up, my mom always made me sit at the table until I ate them. Needless to say, I spent countless nights sleeping at the table. Not sure who was more hard-headed. Me or my mother! She always told me that I would grow out of this ridiculous phase and come to love veggies. Um, no. I have not. Let’s face it…not everyone craves veggies. I am that person.
However this is very difficult for someone who lives, eats, and breaths in the health & wellness space. With a background in nutrition, fitness and personal training I know the benefits and the importance of vegetables. So how do I talk the talk if I cannot walk the walk? Easy! I juice. Yep, juicing saves me.
It is crazy to me that just in this little 8 oz bottle there is 2 cups of spinach and kale, 1 cucumber, 1 green apple, 1 lemon, 2 tsp ginger, and a cucumber! The things that would have me at the dining room table for the entire night.
Spinach and Kale are considered Super Foods. They are the KINGS of Vitamin K, C and folate. Cucumbers offers a unique set of antioxidants which lessen inflammation in the body. Where lemon aids weight loss and reduce heart disease. But my favorite, is the good ol’ ginger. Ginger is loaded with antioxidants compounds that prevent stress and damage to your body’s DNA. They help fight off chronic diseases, prevents lung disease and promotes healthy aging.
Hence, why you will always see ginger in my juices and meals!
Let’s talk about the miracles that are bottled up in this 8 oz. container!!! The Miracle Red has the name for a GOOD reason! It starts with beets but continues with 2 carrots, 1 tomato, 2 limes, 2 cups of celery, 2 Tb. ginger, and 2 apples.
BEETS. LITERALLY GAG ME if they are sitting on my dinner plate. This was my mother’s favorite so you can imagine how this went every Thursday night! No Bueno!
However, juice press them and you have magic. Beets help lower blood pressure and improve athletic performance. Carrots are a good source of beta carotene, fiber and Vitamin K1. Weight loss friendly and improve eye health. Limes provide Vitamin C and improves immunity, prevents kidney stones and promotes healthy skin.
Guess my mom knew what was best!
I will not lie. This one is my ultimate favorite. I never feel fully hydrated and it is so refreshing to drink. Full of coconut water, 1 cucumber, 2 TB. ginger (naturally), 1 lemon, 1 lime, 1 banana, and fresh pineapple.
Pineapple boosts immune systems, Rich in vitamins and enzymes as well as builds strong bones and aid indigestion. Bananas are full of potassium whereas coconut water provides natural hydration, cuts sodium and adds potassium!
Obviously, eating whole and fresh vegetables are the BEST way to get your nutrients however sometimes we just don’t have the time NOR do we like them. I know that not liking them and being an adult I will not sit at the table till I have cleared my plate. SO juicing it is! I get a great amount of vitamins and nutrients with some AMAZING benefits that my body thanks me for!
