When you look at the B3 schedule, you may have asked yourself “What is a BUILD class?”. We have it every Monday throughout the day and we incorporate it in our B3 Saturday morning class.
So what is it exactly? Strength training is a key component to overall health and fitness for everyone. It’s definitely one of those “Use it or lose it” kinda things. Unfortunately, lean muscle mass diminishes with age. You will increase body fat if you don’t do anything to replace the lean muscle you lose over time.
This is an area I can spend all day preaching on. Especially to women. Naturally, men love to look muscular and sometimes even “bulked” however women can perceive muscle as “BULKY”. This cannot be anything further from the truth. Lifting weights add more benefits then anything else.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a good cardio session. When I do cardio, I can visually see on my heart rate monitor that I burned a lot of calories. When I burn a lot of calories, I naturally think I am losing more fat by doing this. Well, this is wrong. Really wrong. Strength training is far better if you want to burn more calories.
With cardio, you will certainly burn more during the actual exercise. But once you’ve finished running, that’s it. Your body isn’t going to burn anymore. You’re not doing any more work. When you do the strength training, your body is constantly working on the exercises. Your body is building muscle and repairing the body after the workout. The metabolism is constantly in need.
Overall, you end up burning far more calories from the strength workout session. In fact, you can burn calories from the weight training for up to 48 hours!
Let alone how strength training can build one’s confidence. You will see more visual results of your body by building strength. Your waist will become smaller, legs stronger and your arms more defined. However, beware of the scale. Always remember that muscle weighs much more then body fat so the scale may not budge or even may go up however keep looking in the mirror to see your results. I guarantee they will be there.
Let alone the confidence you will have for doing something that many are intimidated to do. Lifting weights and creating perfect quality and form takes skill and practice. This is an art, somewhat. Be proud of mastering it. Not many do.
There are so many benefits not mentioned in this blog post regarding the benefits of strength training. If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to ask our coaches of all the perks of our Monday classes. BUILD’n your muscles and confidence is what we do! We will see you Monday!
