So like you (okay, maybe not like you), I find myself walking into the kitchen at least 10 times even before 10am. I am not hungry so to speak. I walk in there out of pure boredom. I open the fridge as if I am going to be surprised that there is nothing new in there from the last time I opened it.
Damn you, Covid. You have me doing things out of sheer boredom.
However, I will fully admit that I do all I can to keep myself on track. I have personal fitness and health goals and (for the most part), I WILL NOT GET DERAILED! With that being said, let me share one of the easiest ways I can do this.
MEAL PREP!
Yes, meal prepping. I know for some, this may sound silly but in all seriousness, folks…meal prepping may be an easy fix to eating whatever is “there” all the time. Having pre-made meals that are stocked in your fridge keeps you from grazing all the time. We tend to know we can cook a meal but don’t have the energy or “feels” to do it. So, we then welcome the pantry to our bellies. The snacks. The stuff we really don’t need. But…if you have a small meal that is already cooked and all you have do is zap it in the microwave you may be in a better position to keep on track.
Just a thought. If you want to entertain this idea, let me help you. If there is one thing I know…it is Meal Prepping 101. Prior to being the owner of B3 Bootcamp, I had a small company called Fit & Prepped which specialized in meal preps and snacks to our gym members. Let’s just say, food is my thing. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Let’s start simple. How about a Stuffed Pepper with Ground Turkey and Quinoa.
One of my favorites. One of the easy ones. Here’s how:
1 lb cooked ground turkey
1/2 cup cooked quinoa
1 Roma tomato, chopped
1/2 packet of low sodium taco seasoning
2 whole bell peppers, red and yellow preferred
Preheat oven 350. In a bowl, combined quinoa, turkey, tomato and taco seasoning. Cut bell peppers in half. Clean out the insides of the pepper. Stuff pepper with turkey mixture. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 10 minutes in oven. Don’t overcook peppers. You want them still firm. Take out of oven and once cool place them in separate meal prep containers. Will last in fridge for 5 days. VIOLA!
I told you it is easy. Perfect meal at any time without all the fat and calories that are just not needed out of sheer boredom!
Hang in there, friends. This will all come to an end and we will be back on track but in the meantime, try to not get too derailed. 🙂
